Monitoring and evaluation

FH Designs has a breadth of experience in designing and conducting monitoring, review and evaluation consultancies, with a particular strength in M&E related to WASH and gender and social inclusion.

We specialise in the use of highly-participatory evaluation approaches, including strengths-based approaches, that engage stakeholders as central to the evaluation process.

Not only does this enhance the effectiveness and insight of our evaluations but it also ensures learning is owned by and accessible to the stakeholders.

We have conducted more than 50 activity-level evaluations for a range of clients including bi- and multi-lateral organisation such as DFAT, DFID, UN agencies and the World Bank, and numerous international NGOs.

FH Designs has undertaken several in-depth studies and applied research to inform national level policy development and community development strategy. Significant assignments include provision of specialist for the Monitoring, Evaluation and Review Panel for DFAT’s Civil Society WASH Fund and for the Monitoring and Review Group (MRG) for the AUD40m BESIK program in Timor-Leste. The FH Designs team also includes capacity to lead M&E for humanitarian programs, such as the review of the first phase of DFAT’s ‘Strengthening Disaster Risk Management’ project in PNG, implemented by UNDP.

Our team have experience of conducting real-time evaluations in humanitarian settings. An example of our work in the gender and social inclusion space, is our review of DFAT’s Gender Action Platform. FH Designs has been pre-selected to provide M&E expertise for both Australia’s and New Zealand’s aid programs.
